The Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP), which is managed by Camco, has been awarded the Transformational Finance Solutions – Impact Investing award at this year’s Financial Times and IFC Transformational Business Awards.
In search of an outright winner in the keenly contested category, the judging panel looked for the impact investing fund that demonstrated the most in terms of innovation, scalability and measured impact in their operations. (Watch the shortlist video here.)
Speaking after the online ceremony, Camco’s Managing Director Geoff Sinclair said winning the award was a “tremendous honour” for REPP.
“Recognition must be given to the Camco team who have and continue to work tirelessly to support REPP’s objective of building a self-sustaining renewable energy market in Sub-Saharan Africa. None of REPP’s achievements would have happened without them,” he added.
“I would also like to acknowledge REPP’s Board and Investment Committee, its investees and partners, and the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which provided REPP’s £148m funding. And finally a special mention to Peter Coveliers and Eric Usher, whose original vision led to the founding of REPP and everything it has achieved ever since.”
