Camco will soon be saying a fond farewell to its General Counsel, Karl Upston-Hooper, as he takes up a high-level position within the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Karl has been working with Camco since 2014, initially supporting on the development of the Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP) in 2014 before taking up a full-time post in 2018. In that time, he has been an integral member of the team, managing the company’s legal risk and corporate governance and playing a pivotal role during a critical growth period for Camco.
Karl will start his new role as Associate General Counsel (Private Sector) to the GCF in February next year. Based in South Korea, he will be part of the Office of the General Counsel providing legal support to the GCF on operational matters and playing a key role in delivering the GCF’s private sector strategy.
Karl will be replaced as General Counsel by former colleague Aili Judström, who will return to Camco from Veritas, a Finnish pension fund manager where she was responsible for a wide range of legal and investments work.
Camco’s Managing Director Geoff Sinclair said: “Karl is a larger-than-life character who has been a key member of the team for several years.
“While I will be sad to see him go – both personally and professionally – being Associate General Counsel at the GCF is an enormous opportunity for Karl and one that reflects his pedigree as a general counsel. I wish him the best of luck in the new job, and am thrilled to welcome Aili back to Camco.”
