Introducing Ariya Finergy, Spark Energy Services development partner

We are delighted to announce the signing of EPC and technology company Ariya Finergy (Ariya) as the latest development partner of our innovative financing platform, Spark Energy Services. Nairobi-based Ariya specialises in providing clean energy and power stabilisation solutions to commercial and industrial clients across East Africa and, like Spark, is passionate about delivering positive impacts on livelihoods and the environment through supporting the sector. The company operates on a customer-centric model, offering clients a wide range of vertically integrated services covering all phases of the clean energy value chain, from feasibility studies, design, procurement and construction to full operations and maintenance. A core sales feature of the business is the power stabilisation technology it affords to clients suffering from poor power quality – namely voltage fluctuations and power blackouts. To date, Ariya has installed 15MWp of solar PV and 9.8MWh of battery storage that have generated over 22GWh of clean energy and displaced 8,600 tCO2e. An example of Ariya’s recent projects providing power stabilisation solutions to the industry is the construction of a roof-mounted solar PV battery system totalling 2.55MWp and 2,670 MWhr for a leading manufacturer of water pipes, fittings and tanks based in Uganda. The project posed complex challenges, with the modules installed across several different roofs of varying orientation and mounting methods and feeding the power into the client’s facilities at five separate tie-in points. Another example is that of a black tea manufacturer in rural Kenya that engaged Ariya to design, construct and build a resilient microgrid consisting of a 403kWp rooftop solar PV array coupled to a 544kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery storage system. The microgrid continues to operate even when the connection to the power grid becomes unstable or is lost all together. Ariya also recently commissioned an off-grid factory in Naivasha of 2.1MWp with 768kWhr of energy storage. Ariya’s core leadership team has extensive energy, EPC and project management experience in over 15 African countries, Australia, Canada, India, USA and UK. The business is led by entrepreneurs and co-founders Jenny Fletcher and Troy Barrie, who have built a wide range of successful businesses in both the profit and non-profit sectors in Africa, Europe, America and Asia.
